Our Instructor Training Program

VISC is always on the lookout for qualified motorcycle riders to become VISC instructors. Any avid motorcyclist who has a sincere desire to teach motorcycle safety can apply if they meet the following minimum requirements:

Minimum of 19 years of age

Class 6 Motorcycle Licence for minimum of 3 years, with 3 years consecutive riding experience

Good Driving Record (ICBC Driver's Abstract Required)

* Applicants will be instructed when to complete these requirements. Additional costs are the responsibility of the applicant.

Do you have what it takes?

There is a tremendous time commitment involved with becoming a VISC instructor. The instructor training program consist of approximately 100 hours of training. Once training is completed, our instructors typically teach 3 or 4 courses a year, with a requirement to teach a minimum of 2 courses each year. Instructors are expected to continue upgrading their teaching to include theory and traffic course instruction. All of our instructors at the Safety Council are passionately committed to both motorcycling and safe riding.

If you fit this profile and can commit to our training program and annual teaching requirements, please contact our lead trainer to enquire about attending the next Instructor Candidate Information Night. contact lead trainer

Instructor Application form

I have found being an instructor with the Vancouver Island Safety Council to be a challenging, satisfying, and above all else, a very rewarding position.

Helping to take a student who has no riding experience and within several sessions, watch them progress and transform into a safe, proficient and confident rider is really an amazing thing to be a part of, and is a big reason why we instructors enjoy teaching.
